CM-Andrew

Andrew hails from Rochester Hills, Michigan and he completed his undergraduate program at the University of Notre Dame. Note, the school is literally in Indiana, but it may as well have been Michigan (see “Michiana”). As Midwest winters only provide nostalgia and unexpected reminders of Andrew’s limited motor skills, he decided a trek to UC Berkeley for his PhD would be worth the cross-country commute. There, he worked with Prof. Dean Toste, leveraging data science-based inquiry towards accelerating organocatalyst design and discovery. After five years, Andrew called a taxi (lit. UHaul, his Dad drove) all the way to UCLA, now working as a postdoctoral researcher with Abby Doyle. Here, he seeks to leverage and explore automation and new algorithms for data-rich experimentation in synthetic chemistry. Outside of lab, Andrew will eagerly find ways to bring up Notre Dame football where he will attempt to demonstrate how this year is the year they’ll make it all the way to the top.
