CM-Jose

Jose grew up in Callosa d’en Sarria, Spain. He graduated from the University of Alicante, Spain with a degree in chemistry. In 2016 he completed his PhD in chemistry at the University of St Andrews, under the supervision of Prof. Renald Schaub and Dr. Herbert Früchtl, where he studied the interactions of molecules on surfaces using quantum mechanics with applications in nanoelectronics and catalysis. After that he did his postdoctoral research at Stanford University and Columbia University under the supervision of Prof. Thomas Bligaard and Prof. Alexander Urban where he developed surrogate machine learning algorithms to accelerate and automate the search of new materials with applications in energy storage. In 2020, Jose joined the Doyle group as a data scientist at Princeton University through the Center for Statistics and Machine Learning (CSML) and the Schmidt DataX initiative. His research focus on developing computational methods for the exploration of the chemical space using artificial intelligence. In his spare time, Jose enjoys running, skiing, flying his drones and playing online games with his niece and nephews.
