Meet Sven
Sven grew up in Dresden, Germany and studied chemistry there at the TU Dresden. Supported by fellowships of the DAAD, BASF, and the Bayer Foundation, he gained research experience in the labs of Prof. Dirk Henkensmeier (KIST, Seoul, South Korea), Dr. Alistair Boyer (University of Glasgow, UK), Prof. Shunsuke Chiba (NTU Singapore), and Prof. John Hartwig (UC Berkeley, USA) during this time.
For his PhD, he moved to Switzerland to work in the group of Prof. Bill Morandi at ETH Zürich. His work was supported by a Kekule fellowship and focused on the development of new methodology using unusual activation modes of phosphonium salts. In September 2024, he joined the Doyle group as a SNSF postdoctoral fellow.
Outside of the lab, he enjoys playing and watching different sports, hiking, and dancing.
